What "EVALUATION MODULE" means?

Hello! I am wondering, what does it mean when it say "evaluation module"(EVM)? Like AWR1642EVM, HDC2080EVM, TMP112EVM, TDC1000-TDC7200EVM? Thank you.

An EVM is typically a pcb or module that uses the key IC, with supporting circuitry to facilitate your evaluation of the performance and operation of the key device. In other words, it can provide a way to test an IC in your new design without having to wait for your design to be complete and prototype built.
