IWR6843ISK: IWR6843 custom design and 1.7V VPP

Hi TI,

We are trying to identify a useful signals for our custom design based on IWR6843 and inspired by your ISK board. Unfortunately, we can't find out, what the 1.7V in the block scheme is used for (www.ti.com/.../swru546.pdf, VPP, Figure 5). There is the same VPP mentioned in Table 15 with some remark – 1.7V generation for fuse chain. We haven’t found any info about what the fuse chain could be.

Do we need this? Can you help us please?

    VPP supply 1.7V for the future version silicon. It's meant for the fuse ROM, currently not supported in the current version of the silicon. In the current version of silicon it could be omitted.

  • Thank you for the info. What is the fuse ROM could be used for in case of mmWave radar and why does it need separate power supply? We just want to be sure we won't miss anything later in our design.
  • I have just found information, that in the fuse ROM could be the encryption key stored and burned applying the 1.7V to the input. How is the key planned to be distributed btw.? Is it done during flashing or somehow via debugging interface?

    The security functionality could be useful for us in some projects but as we are dropping some interfaces and wires for our design, we don’t want to loose a possibility of use of this feature in the future.

    Current silicon is general purpose device. Encryption keys would be associated with the Secure version of the silicon. This would be during the secure flashing and booting process. Currently there is not much information available on this variant. If you need more information you may want to get in touch with TI local TI sales/Field application team.

    Hardware wise, If you would like to be future proof on this end, you may want to provide 1.7V supply on the VPP pin.
