DRV5032: Incremental Rotary Encoding

Part Number: DRV5032
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV5012, DRV5015, DRV5013, DRV5011

Hi Sir

May I know DRV5032 can do Incremental Rotary Encoding application ?

I saw DRV5012 have this application ,but not sure DRV5032 can do as well

Thanks

  • Hello Kai,

The DRV5012 (as well as DRV5011, DRV5013, and DRV5015) are latch devices, which are better suited for rotary encoding than switches like DRV5032, especially since the DRV5032 samples so slowly (20Hz max).  A latch will maintain its output state until the opposite polarity of magnetic field is applied, which is usually the case in rotary encoding with ring magnets.

Please see the image below for reference.

A Tech Note about incremental rotary encoding design is also available here for your reference.
