DRV5032: May DRV5032 suit use in check "battery exit or not" application?

Part Number: DRV5032
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-01066

Hi Sir

May DRV5032 suit use in check "battery exit or not" application?

Customer request this application to switch power source. and request latency as short as possible.

Does customer can reference TIDA-01066?

  • Hello Bogey

Yes, the DRV5032 could be used to determine if a battery is currently in the device or not. The DRV5032 detects a nearby magnetic field, so one way this could be done is to add a small mechanical structure (ie, tension bar or spring) that pushes a small magnet towards the DRV5032 when the battery is inserted. This way, when the battery is removed, the magnet will leave the sensor, which will then tell the system that the battery is gone.

TIDA-01066 does not use the sensor to determine if the battery has left the PCB, but uses the sensor to see if a window or door has been opened (with a nearby magnet setup).
