TMP302: Look for ratch type out put Temp sensor

Part Number: TMP302
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP303

Hi Professional,

My customer look for Temp sensor which has ratch type ouput. And the other specification is similar  as TMP302.

Do you have any appropriate product for this requirement?

Best regards,

Kazuki Kuramochi

  • Hi Kazuki Kuramochi,

Can you specify what is meant by "ratch type output"?

    Jalen
  • Hi Jalen,

Ratch type output meaning is that it maintain output status till manually reset the output after temperature reach at the threshold even once.
TMP302 automatically reset the output status when reach at the hysteresis temperature. Our customer don't won't this automatically reset.

  • Hi Kazuki,

So I can better recommend a part, what requirements does customer have for temperature switch?

At what trip point do they need? Do they only require one trip point, or can a window comparator option work as well?

Can you explain why you need latch output option?

  • Hi Jalen,

    Sorry for my rate replay.

We don't have detailed information. And unfortunately, Japan is in public holiday until 5/6(JP time). So I can't get the answer regarding your questions.
If you have any idea for ratch type temperature switch, could you provided it at first?

    Best regards,
    Kazuki Kuramochi
  • Sure Kazuki,

TMP303 is similar device to TMP302, except it has preset trip windows (both a low and high temperature trip point) as shown in the image below.

The TMP303 has a Set Output High (SOH) pin that is intended to add test functionality to verify the connectivity of the output (OUT) pin to the system controller or other temperature response system, also referred to as a trip test. The SOH pin is an input pin with an internal pulldown resistor. If the SOH pin is pulled high, the TMP303 immediately forces the output high, regardless of temperature.

An available option is to tie the outpin pin of the device to the SOH pin. This will latch the output after it trips. It can then be cleared by forcing SOH low or powering off the TMP303.

If the set trip points in the figure above work for customer, I suggest using the approach just mentioned.
