IWR6843ISK: IWR6843ISK board is very easily to be destroyed

Hi,

Many customers used TI IWR6843ISK board and found it is very easily to be destroyed. Connected ISK with IC-BOOST board, compared the LED status with normal board found the different is DS2 is not lighten when board cannot work. Changed with another ISK board then work well, so there should be error on ISK. Would u pls help check and let me know why DS2 is not lighten and how to repair and avoid such problem?

Hi,

Yes firstly the board can work well while suddenly cannot work and cannot recover. currently about 4boards have the issue, we don't have exact probability number, while it has never happen on 77G EVM till now. Below show the figure on one ISK+ICBOOST board, the only difference is DS2 on ICBOOST is not lighten on the error board, if just change one ISK while use the same ICBOOS then it can work well, so i think the problem is on ISK.

Below first picture work well, the second one cannot be burned using uniflash.

sorry for the late reply, it cannot connect JTAG through xds110 emulator. Today another customer also report similar issue, seems the 60pin connector between ICBOOST and ISK is easy to be damaged.

Andy,

Do you see any changes in power supply current, on the good vs bad board?

Is the PMIC and LDOs are giving all the voltages to the device? (We could probe on the decoupling capacitor points).

When you connect JTAG, In the target configuration does the JTAG chain test pass?

You could refer to "Hardware bring-up guideline" tab, This has debug and trouble shooting tips.

That should help in narrowing problem to specific area.
