AWR1243: Communicate with xWR1243P via FPGA

Hi experts,

we design a mmwave radar system with 4 xwr1243P and a FPGA as extend processor. here are my questions bellow :

1、how can FPGA spi interface communicate with the frontend via mmwaveLink ，do you have some examples or advices?

2、how to capture the adc data from CSI2 interface without CSI2 IP core on FPGA ,can we use 4 LVDS lanes as interface to capture the adc data ?

Hi Simon,

1. In mmWave DFP you can find an application (mmwavelink_example) which provides a reference of mmWaveLink porting on the external Host processor. This example is built for single chip AWR1243 connection which you need to migrate for cascade setup.

2. AWR1243 provides two high speed interface (HSI) CSI-2 and LVDS where LVDS is for debug purpose and CSI-2 as a production version. As you are using FPGA for evaluation so you can use LVDS interface for ADC data capture from AWR1243.

Hi Jitendra thanks for your quickly reply . as for the second question ,my understanding is that we can't capture adc data via CSI-2 interfave without IP core on FPGA .is that right?

Hi,

On FPGA to capture data over CSI-2 from AWR you need D-PHY transceiver which further connects to CSI-2 IP core of FPGA.

There are many FPGA available in the market having CSI-2 feature, please search over the internet.
