DCA1000EVM: Ethernet connection problems

I did according to this manual but nothing works. Static ip is correct. I tried to update FPGA version still not working, mmWave does not see FPGA version.

Could you verify if the ports 4096 and 4098 are blocked by your firewall settings or other tools in your system?

I`m not sure about 4096 4098 ports. I created a task in Windows firewall that open ports but problem still exists. Then i disabled firewall and antivirus but this didn solve the problem (nothig works in background just clean windows7) UPD: i checked ports and they are fine. But from one PC Wireshark sees requsests from DCA1000evm and from another one  not.

When you click on the "Connect, Reset and Confgiure" button what is the message you get in the mmwave studio output window? You can view this window by clicking on the 'view' -> 'output' in the mmwave studio.

I see a message but cable is connected and this is exactly the working cable

Hi Alexander,

It looks like you are using an AWR1243 ES2 device.

From the logs, it looks like the firmware you are trying to load is for an ES3 device.

For AWR1243 ES2 devices, you will need to use firmware from DFP 1.0, which is available here:

Could you try with this and let us know if it works for you?

I have DCA1000evm, AWR1243BOOST and MMWAVE-DEVPACK how to get information from the radar? DFP version works only whis TSW1400. I can flash  AWR1243BOOST but not get the data from it. 

Hi Alexander,

You can use the AWR1243BOOST ES2 with the DCA1000EVM - you only need the firmware files from the old DFP 1.0 package; you can continue to use mmWave Studio 2.0.0.2 with this setup.

This will eliminate at least two of the error messages in your log. We can then look at the DCA1000 one if it still remains.

Well I tried what you described but in mmWave 2.0  when i try to download MSS eternal download is in progress

And I need to find out why the studio does not see the FPGA firmware (fpga done led is on)

Did you flash anything to the AWR1243BOOST after you shared your last screenshot by any chance? If so, could you use Uniflash to erase the serial flash on the board and try again?

For the DCA1000 FPGA, could you confirm for us the filename of the bit file that you have flashed to the DCA1000 from the Lattice tools?

Filename of the bit file that i have flashed to DCA1000 form the lattice tools: DCA1000_FPGA_RECORD_V2.5_10APR2018.bit and DCA1000_FPGA_RECORD_V2.7_18JUN2018.bit  (i tried both). It seems to me that the problem is in dca1000 and not in awr1243boost because i flashed awr1243boost using the program example which is in the folder DFP. Radar studio can see BSS and MSS on awr1243  after i use example (it solves the problem of endless loading) but steel i cant connect PC and dca1000 PC cant see FPGA version of DCA1000.

Maybe i did wrong something with switches

Hello Alexander,

Thanks for sharing the snapshot. The 4th switch config on the SW2 is set for HW config mode. This should be set to SW Config mode for the FPGA to accept the commands from the PC. Can you try changing the switch position to SW config mode and try?

Could you use Uniflash to erase the serial flash on the AWR1243 BOOST and try again?

Also, if possible, could you post here a picture of the top side of the AWR1243BOOST after this? Primarily, we are looking at which LEDs are on, and what the jumpers are set to.

I erase serial flash and try again. I chaned JPs in process as said in the instructions (Radar studio user guide in DFP folder). Under which conditions can the studio see the FPGA version to connect?

Hi Alexander,

There are two types of errors in your log:

1) "Status: Failed, Error Type: RESP TIMEOUT"

2) "ConnectRFDCCard Status: RFDCCARD_UDP_WRITE_ERR" or "Ethernet Cable is disconnected"

The first one is caused by the AWR1243 not responding correctly. For this, you need to use the appropriate SOP mode by populating the SOP0 and SOP1 jumpers. Your photo shows only one of them is populated.

After populating these, please power on the AWR1243 and press the NRST button on the top side.

After this, make sure that you are using the correct firmware from DFP 1.0.0.1 (your previous log showed that you were using this correctly; so just make sure you still continue to use this version), as you have an ES2.0 device. I think with this, we will eliminate at least this issue and you should be able to program the AWR1243 correctly using mmWaveStudio.

The second error message is when due to the software not being able to talk to the DCA1000 over ethernet. We are not currently sure what causes this. It would help to first check the switch settings again and make sure you have configured these correctly.

Attached is a photo for reference showing the switch settings we use. Could you confirm that you have matched these? If so, can you then show an image of the LEDS on the DCA1000 that are glowing.

Yes i tied to update FPGA  with thase versions DCA1000_FPGA_RECORD_V2.5_10APR2018.bit DCA1000_FPGA_RECORD_V2.7_18JUN2018.bit  this version is now installed DCA1000_FPGA_RECORD_V2.7_18JUN2018.bit and the latest screenshots are obtained whis it.
