LM73: FAN control for motion control card, -40-150℃,I2C interface, small package size

Part Number: LM73
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP117, TMP112, TMP1075, LM63

HI,

My customer have a temp sensor requirement for FAN control. but I can't find a close EERD.   LM73 seem to meet the requirement, but price is a bit high. please kindly give your recommendation for this kind of application. thanks.

  • Hi Yue,

What are the requirements for the temperature sensor.  The LM73 is not one of our devices with built in Fan control.

    Thanks,

  • David,

motion control card, -40-150℃,I2C interface, small package size, no high accuracy requirement[+-2℃]. They don't need integrated fan control, just can read a rough tmp through -40 -150℃, they can control the fan by themselves.

BTW, I know less about TI device with built in Fan control, if do have system benefit with this kind of device. please kindly highlight it. thanks.

  • Hi Yue,

Please see the TMP1075 and let me know if this device works in your application.  If you need a smaller package size or high accuracy, see the TMP112 and TMP117.

We have parts such as the LM63  that have a PWM pin that can be used to control a fan's speed.  The PWM pin's duty cycle can be programmed to automatically change relative to the temperature of a remote thermal diode/BJT.  This feature is unnecessary if the customer is controlling the fan themselves.

    Thanks,
