TMP1075: Reducing of board wiring by using 1 pull up resistor for ALERT pin?

Part Number: TMP1075

Hello Team,

Is it possible to use one pull up resistor for multiple off board TMP1075s and than route to one off-board MCU pin instead of having to use a pull up resistor for each alert pin and then wiring each pin to off board MCU to multiple individual pins.

  • Hi Julio,

The alert pin of the TMP1075 is an open drain output, so you can connect as many of them together as you would like with only a single pull up resistor. This is referred to as a "Wired-OR" configuration and is the intended way of using this pin. This way the user also only needs to use a single interrupt pin on  the MCU for all TMP1075s on the bus.

If one of the TMP1075s needs to trigger an alert, it will pull down the whole line, and you can have the host send an SMBUS Alert signal (described in section 8.3.2.5 of the datasheet) to determine which device is sending the alert.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Brandon Fisher
