PGA460: Could I use PGA460 for water level detection?

Part Number: PGA460
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDC1000

Hi team,

My customer is wondering if we could use PGA460 for water level detection in commercial water purifier.

If do, where should they put the PGA460? Top side or bottom side? Do we have any TIDA or documents for this function?

Thanks,

James

  • Hi James,

Yes, the PGA460 can be used for water level detection when placed at the top of the container, pointing down through air. We do not have specific collateral for tank level sensing available; however, this would be considered a generic ultrasonic time-of-flight to distance measurement. Regardless if the material to detect is solid or liquid, as long as the transmission medium is air, the PGA460 is a suitable candidate.

What are the dimensions of the container/tank storing the water?

The TDC1000 has been used for level sensing when the transmission medium is liquid. This means the transducer is submerged in the liquid, and is placed at the bottom of the container, pointing up. Liquid identification and concentration can also be measured when submerged and placed on the side of the container.
