AWR1642BOOST: What is the meaning of the azimuth resolution setting in the mmWave Demo Visualizer?

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST

Hi,

I set the "Antenna Config (Azimuth Res - deg)" to "4Rx,2Tx(15 deg)" in the mmWave Demo Visualizer.

I got a detection at (x, y) = (-2.978515625, 6.697265625) and the corresponding azimuth is atan(x/y) = -23.9764405 degree,

this azimuth value is not a multiple of 15 degree.

Does the "azimuth resolution = 15 degree" setting suggest that I could only get a measurement with multiple of 15 degree such as 0 degree, +/- 15 degree, +/- 30 degree, etc.?

Thanks for your help

  • Hi,

The "Antenna Config (Azimuth Res - deg)" to "4Rx,2Tx(15 deg)" is related to the angular resolution of the system when using 4 Rx antenna in MIMO mode.

Please read this app note to understand how the angular resolution is related to the number of Rx antennae.

    Thank you
