DCA1000EVM: When will the API capability be available for multiframe raw data acquisition using DCA 1000 ?

Part Number: DCA1000EVM

In a previous post it was mentioned that the capability of multiframe continuous raw data acquisition will be available. Just wanted to know if its available now?

  • Can you send me the original e2e thread regarding this?  I am not sure what exactly does "multi-frame continuous raw data capture" mean.

    Best,

    Zigang

  • Hi Zigang,

    I had a previous discussion on the same topic. Following is the link to it.

    Thanks

  • Yes, the data capture through DCA1000 CLI control interface is already available.  You can download the newest SDK 03.03.00.03 and search for lvdsStreamCfg in the sdk users guide section 3.3.2.  You will find information about this feature.  You will also need to download the latest radar studio version 02.01.00.00, and you can find some information at directory:  C:\ti\mmwave_studio_02_01_00_00\mmWaveStudio\ReferenceCode\DCA1000\Docs

  • Hello Zizang,

    I had seen this information already. The mmwave radar studio (version 02.01.00.00 ) along with the DCA1000 facilitates capture of  single frame data (raw adc). I wanted to know whether continuous data capture is available as discussed in the previous post. PFA the discussion with Kyle below.

    Ashish,

    You can make the follow changes to the SRR demo to enable LVDS streaming.

    In the "common" folder in "srr_config_consts.h": remove comment at line 95 for

    #define USE_LVDS_INTERFACE_FOR_OBJECT_DATA_TX

    In the "mss" folder in "mss_main.c": comment out line 1056 for

    //sessionCfg.u.swCfg.headerMode = CBUFF_HeaderMode_NONE;

    Then rebuild the demo in CCS and generate a new application binary.

    Currently, the only way to control the DCA1000EVM is in mmWave Studio. However, there are plans to release an application that will enable control of the DCA1000EVM without needed mmWave Studio. However, I cannot provide a release timeframe at this time.

    In the meantime, you can also configure your AWR1642BOOST using the SRR chirp configuration and capture the raw data that way.

    Regards,
    Kyle

  • Sorry for the late reply.  I am saying that the LVDS streaming is now supported for xwr1642/xwr1843/xwr6843 through SDK 03.03.00.03.

    With LVDS streaming and DCA1000 CLI control interface, you can capture data through dos command window.  but DCA1000 CLI control interface still put all the data into a file, and you can only access the file when the capture is done.

    If you want to access the data in between, you may need to modify the DCA1000 CLI control interface and recompile it.   The source code and a user's guide is provided at:

    C:\ti\mmwave_studio_02_01_00_00\mmWaveStudio\ReferenceCode\DCA1000

  • Alright Zizang, I will check SDK 03.03.00.03.

    Thanks
