then add TMP117 and files will be generated for you to download and use.

These are .c and .h files that are MCU agnostic - so yes, could be MSP430G2x, MSP430FRx, MSP430F5x, a SimpleLink MCU or other vendor.

for example using MSP432P401R LaunchPad, there is a demo project for the TMP116. This is same as what is needed for the TMP117 and they will add soon to this officially, but the fact is you can use this example with the TMP116 or TMP117.
