TMP117: TMP117

Part Number: TMP117
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMT70,

Hello,

for sensor LMT70 it is possible to increase precision of measurement by using two-point calibration of the sensor (as described in snaa267a.pdf).

Is it possible to increase precision of TMP117 with the same manner, or two-point calibration will not take any effect?

Thank you.

  • Hi Ihor,

We typically view precision as sensor to sensor variation and not as repeat-ability of one sensor. It's expected that the repeat-ability, or precision, of one sensor is quite good. The other errors that contribute to a product spec accumulate on top of a single sensor's inherit precision. When performing individual calibration on multiple sensors, the variation between sensors is absolutely reduced. The repeat-ability of one sensor won't be altered by calibration, but ideally its accuracy would be improved.

The concepts described in the app note apply to both LMT70 and TMP117. However, in practice, it would be challenging to improve on the performance offered from the factory. The equipment required is not commonly available to our customers, and implementing this level of calibration in production is cost-prohibitive due to cycle time. A great deal of automated test innovation was required to bring products of this caliber to market in the first place.

    thanks,

    ren
