HDC1080: HDC1080 data error

Part Number: HDC1080

Dear TI,

We are using HDC1080 for humidity detection. During the test, we found that the average error of the chip had gone beyond the scope of the specification. The following is the testing data, the right row value are the humidity controlled by humidity box, and the left row value are read from the chip. Please give us some suggestion. Thank you.

  • Hi Derek,

    Thank you for your post.

In order to verify the accuracy of the HDC1080 we typically use both a humidity chamber (in this case the humidity box you are using), and a calibrated humidity reference. The box you are using could be at the wrong RH levels if it is not properly calibrated or if it has any kind of leak. The humidity reference gives you an accurate sensor reading to compare to.

If you are confident in the accuracy of the chamber, then I recommend trying a bake of the devices, typically at 100 C for 6-10 hours, as the devices may have been exposed to excessive moisture. This typically happens if the board was mistakenly washed, which results in higher than real values like the ones you are seeing.

    Best Regards,
    Brandon Fisher
