HDC2080: Question of High Temperature and Humidity Exposure of the HDC2080 Device

Part Number: HDC2080

Hi Sirs,

The HDC2080 datasheet does not recommend the test conditions beyond 20% to 80% RH, 0 to 60 degree C. However, my customer needs system level test in the conditions of 65’C, 90% RH for 72 hours. Would you pls advise if it can result permanent offset (damage) the HDC2080 devices? If no, how long can the HDC2080 recover from the offset with customer's test conditions?

Thank you and Best regards,

  • Hi Wayne,

Thank you for your post. Since they are operating above 80% RH and 60 °C they can expect to see some drift of the part as described in that footnote. I wouldn't expect a great deal of shift over just 72 hours at those conditions but i do not have specific data for their environmental conditions to say how much.

What i would recommend is that they attempt their setup with a few parts or EVMs and record the accuracy before and after to determine if there is a noticeable shift.

One other thing to note is that at 90% RH there is some risk of condensation forming, direct exposure to moisture would cause a serious shift of the part, but that shift can typically be baked out. If condensation can be avoided that is preferable.
