AWR1642BOOST: Detect objects in the interior of the vehicle

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1642

Hi,

I use the AWR1642 Boost and I want to use the sensor to detect the objects (for example a suitcase) in the inside of the car. can the sensor distinguish between a human and a car inside the car (as in the picture below)

Thanks in advance

Walid

  • Hi,

The sensor will be able to make a distinction based on moving vs static.

So in this case it will be able to make a distinction between people and the bag because people will have some slight movement. However it may not be able to make a distinction between the bag and an empty seat

    Thank you

    Cesar

  • The algorithms we currently use in the Vehicle Occupancy Demo utilize static clutter removal, which means that we actively remove objects that are stationary. This improves our signal for detecting small movements.  For static object detection, you would need to employ a more traditional processing chain combined with the knowledge of where fixed objects (i.e. seats) are located.
