OPT3101: OPT3101 maximum range, modulation frequency, and external laser diode driver

I am interested in OPT3101 for one of our rangefinder project. The measurement range is from 10m to 1km at 2 ~ 3 readings per second.

From the OPT3101 de-aliasing app note and the distance calculation equation, it seems the maximum distances with de-aliasing enabled are 75m or 115m depend on the 2^nd modulation frequency selection. Is there a workaround to extend the distance, assume the optical design and eye safety are not the limiting factors? Can the default modulation frequency be changed from 10MHz?

I will likely use a Vcsel diode at higher current than the OPT3101 internal diver could support. Any suggestion on extend the emitter driving capability of the chip?
