AWR1443BOOST: Application using two AWR1443BOOST

Part Number: AWR1443BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MMWCAS-RF-EVM, AWR1443, AWR2243

I have questions about AWR1443BOOST.

1) Using two AWR1443BOOST units, the signal transmitted from the first unit is received by the second unit and the waveform of the FM-CW radar transmitted from the transmitting side is sent to the other unit using RSSI (IQ signal)
Is it possible to use it in the form of reading as? (To measure the relative transmission level in the space of 80 GHz band).
At that time, we are thinking of making the transmission signal of the second unit invisible by an electromagnetic wave absorber.

2) Is it possible to control two units of AWR1443BOOST with one PC using the first SPI as master and the second module SPI as slave?

3) If 1) and 2) cannot be done with AWR1443BOOST, is it possible with cascade type AWR1243P (as a board MMWCAS-RF-EVM)?

Thank you.

  • Hello,

    Please find my reply below:

    1) Using two AWR1443BOOST units, the signal transmitted from the first unit is received by the second unit and the waveform of the FM-CW radar transmitted from the transmitting side is sent to the other unit using RSSI (IQ signal)

Yes, you can transmit from one sensor and receive from other. But it would then not really work like a radar. Are you just looking for signal power level on the receiver end? For the second unit you can just keep the transmitters OFF, you don't need absorber.

    2) Is it possible to control two units of AWR1443BOOST with one PC using the first SPI as master and the second module SPI as slave?

Yes the two AWR1443 devices could communicate to each other via SPI. You just need to write your application accordingly.

              3) If 1) and 2) cannot be done with AWR1443BOOST, is it possible with cascade type AWR1243P (as a board MMWCAS-RF-EVM)?

AWR2243 (1243P has been replaced by 2243) is needed only if you need LO synchronization between the two devices. Also with 2243 you would need another external processor.

  • Hi Vivek.

Thank you for answering the question.

Then I would like to try 1), 2) using AWR1443BOOST.

If you have any questions, I will post it again as a related question.

    Thank you and best regards,
