Part Number: IWR1642BOOST

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

After flashing the boot-loader binary on the IWR1642BOOST board through the xdsdfu firmware update utility, the usb ports /dev/ttyACM0 and /dev/ttyACM1 were no more available under /dev/ folder and also in SmartRF Programmer 2, SmartRF Studio or CCS.

Could it be anything wrong with the TM4C1294NCPDT MCU ?

Do I have to buy another board ?

Best regards

Angelo

  • Hi,

What are you trying to do and why are you using SmartRF Programmer 2, SmartRF Studio.?

    Hi Charles,

I was trying to do a kind of hard reset of the board. Probably, It wasn't a good move .

Anyway using the XDS drivers I wasn’t able to upload the boot loader binary.

Do I have to change the board ?

It seems like the TM4C1294NCPDT MCU isn't recoverable.

    Angelo

    Hi Charles,

I have installed the XDS drivers, but the COM Ports for the IWR1642BOOST EVM weren't available as well.

I guess that the TM4C1294NCPDT MCU responsible for the USB connection is damaged, doesn't it ?

    HI,

Can you provide some more details on the problem? Was this a working board that stopped showing the COM ports?

    Regards,

    Charles O

  • In reply to Charles Oladimeji:

    Hi Charles,

    Yes, It was.
After flashing the bootloader binary It hasn't worked anymore.
The COM ports weren't available anymore.
I was using the xdsdfu tool provided by the XDS Emulation Software (EMUPack) https://software-dl.ti.com/ccs/esd/documents/xdsdebugprobes/emu_xds_software_package_download.html.

    Hi,

Why were you programming TM4C1294NCPDT MCU to begin with?

The EVM comes with the firmware for the emulator preinstalled. You only have to install the driver on your PC.

You followed the instructions in the link below and that didnt fix it?

  • In reply to Charles Oladimeji:

    Hi Charles,

Sorry, I expressed myself badly, I didn't program directly the TM4C1294NCPDT MCU,
and you are right, I followed the instructions in the link and that didn't fix it, indeed the COM Ports weren't available anymore.

    Regards,
    Angelo

You may need to replace the board.

    • Can you share a picture of your setup?
    • What is the spec of the power supply used?
    • lastly, what caused the failure?

  • In reply to Charles Oladimeji:

    Hi Charles,

    Charles Oladimeji

Can you share a picture of your setup?

No, I can't but the board was in flash programming mode (101 - SOP mode 5).

    Charles Oladimeji

What is the spec of the power supply used?

    I used a power supply adapter of 5 V.

    Charles Oladimeji

    what caused the failure?

I guess that must be related to the update of the firmware exploiting the XDS drivers.

    Regards,
    Angelo
