Hello,

There is snoa930 document about sensor design.

I was wondering how to design optimal rectangular coil for lateral position measurement which the doc mentions ?

I am really interested how to achieve such "Linear flux density gradient".

TI provides coil designer but there isn't way how to calculate Inductance as function from dx.

Thanks for your interest on our LDC parts! You are right about us providing the coil designer tool that helps design the coil and get you going.

We do have sample coils on using LDC for linear movement. https://www.ti.com/tool/LDCCOILEVM#1

In regards to your question of understanding and achieving Linear Flux Gradient Density I recommend to use tools like FEMM or if you are interested in a 3D model I would use Ansys. These tools will provide the magnetic flux gradient and also provide the inductance value as the target slides over the coil.
