IWR6843ISK: Industrial Toolbox 4.4.0: PeopleCounting Visualizer Not Working

Part Number: IWR6843ISK

I have the IndustrialToolbox v4.4.0 installed on my Windows 10 machine (64-bit). I also have the mmWave SDK 3.4.0.3 installed. I'm trying to run the Visualizer for the 3D people-counting lab. The GUI comes up. However, when I click the "Select Configuration" button, nothing happens.

I've tried rebooting my platform. I've tried uninstalling all previous versions of it, wiping the existing directory from c:\Program Files (x86).

Any ideas what the issue might be and/or what I can try next?

  • Hi,

    Please see this E2E thread: https://e2e.ti.com/support/sensors/f/1023/p/912037/3371853#3371853

    We are looking at a solution for this without changing folders.

    Regards,

    Justin

    my Ti installs are all in a "C:\ti" folder -- the toolbox itself is here:
        C:\ti\mmwave_industrial_toolbox_4_4_0
    So, I don't think that's it.

    Hi Kathleen,

    I will need another day to debug this, I will return with more on Friday.

    As another data point, I found another Windows box that didn't have any TI SW on it, did the install, and it's working. So, the problem seems to be some weird interaction with previous versions of the SW.

    Hi Kathleen,

    Try modify the code as follows:

    Line 738 in gui_main.py (bolded lines have been added, no other changes):

    def selectFile(self):
    #search for latest mmwave toolbox
    largest = -1
    root = "C:/ti/"
    iwrTools = "mmwave_industrial_toolbox"
    dirs = os.listdir(root)
    for name in dirs:
    if len(name) > len(iwrTools):
    if (name[:25] == iwrTools):
    numstr = name[26:]
    #print(numstr)
    version = int(numstr)
    if (version > largest):
    largest = version
    toolbox = name
    #print(toolbox)
    try:
    configDirectory = root+toolbox+"/labs/people_counting/visualizer/chirp_configs/"
    except:
    configDirectory = root

    Regards,

    Justin

  • In reply to Justin Curewitz:

    Apologies for the delay.

    Yes, that fixed it - thanks!
