AWR1243BOOST: I am constantly seeing a target at around 11.72m which is not existent.

I  have encountered some problems when measuring with awr1243. So, i maybe need your help.

I used awr1243 to measure, but the result always shows that there is a target at 11.72m. there is always a target at 11.72m In different scenarios. I have tried many times even in a darkroom

Also, can I see the measurement results in real time during measurement with awr1243? Instead of receiving the raw data back for processing and seeing the results

    We have performed many tests on this platform with no problems.

    So, this makes me think it is specific to your setup.

    Are you using AWR1243BOOST EVM or a custom board?

    Is it enclosed in a box?

    Could you try to point it to the sky and check if you still see the artefact?

    I'm sorry to reply you so late. We use AWR1243BOOST EVM+TSW1400 in experiments.

    We have tried to point it to the sky with the bandwidth of 75MHz, 150MHz, 750MHz and 1500MHz respectively. The result is shown in the figure.

    It is seen that there always artefacts in the figure. Also, it is very strange that the range of the artefact changes with the bandwidth. For examples, 11.72m @B=75MHz, 5.86m@B=150MHz, 1.17m@B=750MHz, 0.58m@B=1500MHz.

    We also found that there are other unkown targets in the figures. For examples, there is a target at approximately 500 @B=75MHz and 50m @B=750MHz.

    We wonder that if we operate the device or process the data incorrectly?

    Please post process the data you captured from the sky with matlab included in the mmWave Studio. We know that those functions are working propertly since they have been validated by the mmwave studio team.

    If you still see the issues than they are probably related to the EVM

    We have post process the data with matlab included in the mmWave Studio. The results of Channel1-4 are shown in the figure.  It is seen that there are artefacts in the figure.

  • And there is another question. After i calculate FFT of the ADC data, what is the unit of the result? It is seen in the PostProc that the unit is dBFS? What is the relationship between dBFS and dBm? When i calculate 2D-FFT, what is the unit?
