IWR6843AOP: SPI connection with latest Frimware does not connect on

Part Number: IWR6843AOP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MMWAVEICBOOST, IWR6843

Hi,

I have connected the IWR6843 AOP ES2.0 to the mmWaveICBoost and the DCA1000. I have already successfully started up the mmWave Studio with AOP ES1.0: https://e2e.ti.com/support/sensors/f/1023/t/931814/ .

With the AOP ES2.0 I tried the frimware from mmWave Studio v2.1.1.0 and the mmWave Studio v2.1.0.0, but I could not establish a SPI connection.

Regards
Max

  • HI, Max:

After reset and connect before loading the firmware, please first check 60GHz first and then followed by manually checking xWR6843.

After that load the firmware.   Let me know whether that resolve your problem.

    Best,

    Zigang

  • Hi, Zigang,

I followed your instructions, but it didn't solve the problem. I keep getting an error "RESP TIMEOUT" and "MSS Power Up async event was not received!" after about 30 seconds. I also tried it with the 77 GHz setting, but it still did not solve the problem.

  • HI, Max:

Can you double check the switch setting on the IC booster as below?  Can you also try to use separate power supply on DCA1000 board?

    Best,

    Zigang

  • Hi, Zigang:

Yes, the dip switches on the DCA1000 board were not the same.
I took mine from the User Guide. There the dip switch settings are a bit misleading. A help would be to mention this in the Quick Start Guide.

I already had a separate power supply in use.

    Thanks a lot,
    Max
