AWR6843: About device nomenclature (Safety Level difference)

Part Number: AWR6843
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1843

Champs,

From AWR6843 data sheet, with Device Nomenclature, there is different type of "Safety Level", Q and B.

What is actually different between "Q" (Non-Functional Safety) and "B" (ASIL-B)?

Is it possible to share more details about the difference between Q and B variants?

(Is the silicon different?)

Regards,

Hayden

  • Hello Hayden Kim,

Yes, We have two variants of the chip.

    1) Non-functional safety device: This device performs basis mmWave sensor application, However it does not support functional safety features during boot and during run times.

    2) Functional safety ASIL-B device: This would support functional safety monitors. There are functional safety monitors (For reference you could refer to AWR1843  Monitoring and Diagnostics in section 7) similar features would be available at 60GHz parts. These APIs will not be honored in Non-functional safety device.

Functional safety ASIL-B device are not yet released, If you are further interested, for timelines please get in touch with marketing team for more information.

    Thanks and regards,
