LM35: Application inquiry

Hi team, 

Good day.

My Customer wanted to know if the LM35DT part can this run at the end of a 6 or 8’ long shielded twisted pair cable with no other components? He is planning to mount this on a PCB to the manifold to be measured and connect it to a control board with a wire harness having a connector on each end. It seems a series output resistance may be required and a decoupling cap is advised.  The need for extra components at the LM35DT end is not desirable.

    Hi Renan,

    The LM35 can drive up to 50 pF without other components. With 6’ to 8’ wiring, there would be too much capacitance without including extra precautions. Section 8.1.1 of the datasheet details capacitive drive capability.

    For best performance results, a bypass capacitor and a series R-C damper should be used to improve the capacitance tolerance. Examples of this are shown in Figure 13, Figure 24, and Figure 25 of the datasheet.
