FDC2114: Parasitic resistance

Part Number: FDC2114
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: FDC1004

Hi Expert,

My customer is considering FDC2114 as liquid level sensor.

Their application has the parasitic resistance between LC and the capacitance to be measured.

And, The measurement results is lower than actual capacitance.

Could you please give me your advice for accurate measurement?

Thanks

Muk

  • Hi Muk,

With the FDC2114 the parasitic you are referring to could be from the sensor, sensor to "ground" If the parasitic is a known and can be calibrated it could be performed and the risk remains over temperature. The change in capacitance can be contributed from change in L and C parameters as well.

In order to improve the accuracy or control the parasitic I would recommend that they lean towards the FDC1004. The Integrated shield helps in minimizing any parasitic related to system noise.

Let me know if this helps!
