TMP117: Brownout Detection

Part Number: TMP117

Hello,

The TMP117 datasheet mentions a brownout detect at 1.1V but does not give any details. Is this the same as a undervoltage lockout? Where the device would shut off when the V+ voltage drops below this threshold? It doesn't look like there is any way to read if a brownout happened.

Thanks!

  • Hi John,

Power on reset (POR) and brown out are complimentary. The notes state that POR occurs at 1.6V when the supply is rising. This means the device's digital logic will perform a reset and begin to operate correctly when the supply reaches this voltage. Conversely, the brownout voltage of 1.1V is measured as the supply voltage falls. The digital logic will stop working correctly at this voltage; the device effectively is off. This may be the same as undervoltage lockout feature on other products.

    thanks,

    ren

  • Hi Ren,

Thanks for quickly confirming! My guess was the device would behave how you just described it but I wanted to double check as I am used to seeing undervoltage lockout (UVLO) or undervoltage detection terms.
