Hi team
I know that mmWave sensor cannot penetrate metal but Could penetrate plastic based on the thickness.
but I'm not sure if we have a sensor for such functionality.
1)should be able to penetrate multiple layers of plastic with different thicknesses, also the different layers of plastic will be really close to each other having 1-2 cm gaps in between.2)should be able to detect objects in 2m range.3) should be able to detect humans in 2m range.4) can work with microcontroller. My customer wants a sensor that can detect if someone tries to open the front hood of the vehicle so the device should be able to penetrate the plastic bumper and inner plastic sheets that are attach with bumper,Also can detect human and shoot alarm with help of microcontroller. Please recommend a sensor for this particular case. Thank you.
Hello
Please see how mmwave sensors fair for different materials below: https://dev.ti.com/tirex/explore/node?node=AGcMw5shW3sPnCKkNyypXg__VLyFKFf__LATEST
They do penetrate plastics like car bumper material.
77Ghz based sensors (AWR1843) are used for Automotive - ADAS style applications
69Ghz sensors (IWR6843) are used inside the vehicle and in some cases for stationery vehicle outside.
Please see region specific regulations.
There are variety of demos available for EVM's based on these sensors :

Hope this allows you to get started and try the appropriate sensor.
Thank you,
