AWR1642BOOST-ODS: is the ODS demo visualizer tool designed to generate a .cfg for this EVK antenna design?

Hi, I would like to know if this tool is designed only for the ODS evk because it has a different antenna design compared to awr1843 and awr1642 EVKs, if not, what is the best tool to test different configurations in the ODS evk?, I have download the demo visualizer but I can not find the ODS board in the list of available platforms and in TIREX Texas just provide 1 lab for this EVK (obstacle detection)

  • Hi,

    Usually a chirp configuration dictates the size of the memory used to run the specific configuration.

    Therefore the ODS demo may not support all changes in the configuration file.

    Usually we modify the configuration and we test it. If the demo breaks this means that the change in configuration does not match the memory made available to the demo.

    What type of change would you like to make to the configuration?

  • Hi, we have a custom awr1843 board with a similar antenna design as the awr1642boost-ods evk, so for now I only wanna know if the ods demo visualizer generates a configuration for this kind of antenna design or not, the query is because you already said to me that I have to take care with the antenna design from the differents EVKs, but I dont know if this tool is exclusive for the awr1642boost-ods or not

  • Please help me understand what you call the “Ods demo visualizer” Is this the GUI included with ODS demo? This Matlab GUI does not have the capability to generate a chirp configuration.
     
    However you can use the mmWave Sensing Estimator to generate chirp configurations for the AWRT1642ODS board
     
    Keep in mind that on the ODS platform
     

    ·         The mmWave SDK demo will run but the angle information will not be correct

    Hi, no, ODS visualizer is a tool provided by TI where you can load a config, that is why I am asking if this tool is designed to generate the config for the ods evk antenna design, and I am not able to use sensing estimator because I dont have the DCA1000EVM

  • Thank you for providing more details. I understand now which tool you have in mind.

    This tool was only used with an old version of the ODS EVM. It is no longer supported for the AWR1642 ODS boards we ship today.

    WIth the current version of the ODS board you should use the Matlab gui provided with the demo.

    The sensing estimator is a standalone tool. You don't need DCA1000

    This is a good question.

    The SDK demo is designed to run on AWR1642BOOST evm. As you are probably already aware the BOOST board has a different Rx virtual array than the ODS board.

    The angle is computed as described in the SDK demo documentation
