IWR1642BOOST: Does IWR1642Boost radar can generate 8 virtual channels data using two Tx's

Part Number: IWR1642BOOST

Hi,

Good day.

Our customer has an inquiry regarding the IWR1642BOOST. I have copied it below and we appreciate your help on this.

"Does (IWR1642Boost radar + using radar studio )can generate 8 virtual channels data using two Tx's enabled at same time ?

If I want to capture the data, By enabling two Transmitters enabled, with 4 receivers Can I get 8 virtual channels data with phase maintaining of theta, 2theta, 3theta, 4theta, 5theta, 6theta....so on .
Or I can enable only 1 Tx at one time and can generate 4 channel data ??

I want to go for TDM-MIMO mode to achieve 8 visual antenna and better angle resolution. So can we enable two transmitters at same time and generate 8 visual antenna channel data ?"

Thank you for your support.

Regards,

Cedrick

  • Hello

While we get you more details.

The Output channels depends on the number of receivers. One per channel.

    Thank you,

  • HI, Cedrick:

Usually in our TDM-MIMO mode, we enable TX1 at chirp1 and then enable TX2 at chirp2.  Then at the receive side, when we combine TX1 and TX2, we get 8 virtual antennas.

But if you enable TX1 and TX2 at the same time, then you only get 4 RX channel.

If you enable TX1 and TX2 at the same time, but change the phase between TX1 and TX2 for different chirp, then it is called BPM MIMO, not TDM-MIMO any more.

    Best,
