CCS/AWR1642: Meaning of "Privilege Write Mode"

I am seeing register fields designated with "R/WP" where "WP" means "Write Privilege" mode. No where in the datasheet is this explained. Can anyone provide an explanation as to what this means? Thank you for your help.

An example is the RTIGCTRL register that is part of the Watchdog and RTI section. The CNT1EN and CNT0EN bits are designated "R/WP-0" where the "WP = Write in privileged mode only".

I think what is explained in section 6.1.15 is an optional protection mechanism on selectable memory segments. This is different than an operational mode that restricts configuring registers. I want to use the RTI function to generate a periodic interrupt. It seems all the RTI registers have bit fields that are "Write in privileged mode only". I have to find a way around this privileged write only mode obstacle to use the RTI.

The privileged mode is related to the R4F CPU operating mode.

This mode is described in the CortexR4F TRM available on infocenter.arm.com

For reference related to your query, you can refer mmWave-SDK driver (watchdog_rti). TI-RTOS (OS) takes care of writing register in privileged mode.

In case you need to access privileged mode manually then you can refer Non-OS mmWave SDK Demo (osal_nonos\hwiP_nonos.c: switch_to_system_mode function).
