OPT3002: different logic voltage from VDD

Hi,

My customer want to use OPT3002, but the application has different I/O voltage from VDD as shown in below. Is that no problem? The logic HIGH input voltage (V_IH) is described as 0.7*VDD(min.) to 5.5V(max.) according to the datasheet.

Customer's application:
VDD: 3.3V
I/O: 1.8V
I/F：I2C-Fast(400kHz)
No proximity sensor

Hi Kazuto,

This is correct. You can see allowable supplies to connect IO pins to through pullup in the Pin Functions table of the datasheet. If you are satisfying the conditions in the Pin Functions table and the high/low input voltages then this is okay.

Thanks for your reply.

I understand that "V_IH: 0.7*VDD(min.) to 5.5V(max.)" just show the test condition I/O pins are pulled-up to 3.3VDD, OPT3002 can operate properly even though I/O pins are connected to an independent power supply such as 1.8V through 10kOhm.

Is that correct?

Could someone give me the answer for the question "Is it possible 3.3VDD coexists with 1.8V I/O" ?

Hi,

You can use pull up to 3.3V on IO with 1.8V on VDD, but not the other way around.
