TMP1075: How do we understand sensor healthy status?

Part Number: TMP1075

In TMP1075 is there a chance the temperature sensing element alone goes faulty? If yes at that particular status what will be the response of the sensor for reading temperature action/I2c command.

What is the usage of the device ID register in TMP1075 ??

  • Dear Selvamanikandan -

Welcome to E2E and thanks for posting!

No, this device does not have any error indication back to controller, however, other than the ALERT status pin, which is used for overtemp indication back to MCU/MPU. If the device failed, due to some sort of damage, then either the part would not ACK on I2C bus (would be considered no communication) or there would be odd values in registers.

The device ID register is used to identify the part (if desired) over I2C.

Easiest way to see if part is "alive" is to ping with I2C address and receive ACK from it.
