PGA900: Add additional Humidity sensor.

Genius 9880 points
Part Number: PGA900

Hi Team,

Customer want to know if they PGA900 could act as a Master and collect data from an external sensor. Below is the details.

"

I am using PGA900 to read temperature data from an externally connected sensing element.

At the moment, I am able to access this data using SPI with the help of a microcontroller.

However, I would like to connect a additional Humidity sensor to the PGA 900 so that, I want the PGA 900 to read humidity data from the external sensor and can use it to perform humidity compensation inside the PGA900 only.

I would like to know if PGA900 could act as a Master and collect data from an external sensor

"

Thank you in advance. Cannot find any information regarding this kind of application in our part.

Regards,

Maynard

  • Hi Maynard,

The PGA900 cannot be operated as an SPI master. The only other option would be if the humidity sensor has a UART output available. The PGA900 can send and receive data through UART as a master.

  • Hi Scott,

    Apologies the late response

Is there any other signal conditioner IC that you could recommend which is similar to PGA900 and can act as a SPI Master?

    Maynard

  • Hello Maynard,

At this time there is no single-chip solution that has the same functionality as the PGA900 while also including SPI master functionality. You would require at minimum an ADC with an integrated excitation source (perhaps something like the ADS124S0x), a discrete DAC for analog output if needed, and a separate microcontroller capable of acting as an SPI master.
