TS3L501E: Power consumption

Part Number: TS3L501E

Hi All,

The customer want to know the power consumption of TS3L501E.

May I know how to calculate it?

I found a link for CMOS calculation.

https://e2e.ti.com/support/logic-group/logic/f/logic-forum/875721/faq-how-do-i-calculate-power-consumption-or-current-consumption-for-my-cmos-logic-device

Could I know how to calculate the LVDS loss?

Thank you.

  • Hello,

The resource you linked is a good guide on calculating power consumption. In this case, you can find all that information on our datasheet. Depending on your VDD, you can then look up what your IDD current will then be to calculate your static power dissipation. For dynamic (given you are using a digital signal), you would also need to know the switching frequency the application will be operating at to help calculate the dynamic power dissipation (use formulas from link you mentioned).

It would be difficult to calculate the exact LVDS loss as it depends on a lot of factors including cabling, frequency, and board layout.

    Thanks,

    Bryan

  • Hi Bryan,

    Thank you for the information.

Since I didn't find the Cpd in the DS.

In this case, will the Cpd equal to the combination of Con + Coff ?

  • Hello,

So the switch capacitance changes based on if the switch is on (CON, higher capacitance) or when the switch is off (COFF, lower capacitance). You would use the worst case value between the two which will be the CON capacitance for your CPD.

    Thanks!

    Bryan
