TS5A3157: SPDT recommendation

Part Number: TS5A3157
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS5A6542

Hi team,

My customer has an amplification loop in their system, which amplifies the two analog small signals, and uses SPDT to switch the small signals.

For SPDT, they have requirements as below:

The signal distortion of the SPDT should be as small as possible, the switching speed should be below 50ns, and the on-resistance should be as small as possible, better below 10Ω. The package should be as small as possible.

I find TS5A3157, and the package is DSBGA. Do you have other recommendations?

Really appreciate your help!

Thanks & best regards,

Wendy

  • Hi Wendy,

TS5A3157 is a good option in this application. I would power the device with a 5V source to ensure the lowest on resistance and fastest transition time.

One note is that TS5A3157 can reach up to 12 Ohms at a 5V supply at max temperature. If you aren't using a 5V source than the performance will be worse.

One other option that might interest you is the : TS5A6542. It typically has an on resistance of < 1 Ohm and has a worst case transition of 30ns for 5V supply.  It is also in a DSBGA package.

That being said either part can work in this application. If you have any other question please let me know!

    Best,
