TMUX6112: ±3.3V voltage

Part Number: TMUX6112
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CD74HCT4316, CD74HC4316, TMUX6136

Hi switches&multiplexers team,

My customer want to know that if TMUX6112 support ±3.3V supply?

Could you give some recommended devices, their requirement is:

 1. More than 800Mhz bandwidth.

2. ±3.3V supply.

Thanks,

Colin

  • Hi Colin,

The TMUX611x line requires at least 10V between VDD and VSS - so this is line of parts isn't ideal for the application. Also the bandwidth shown in the parametric table is showing bandwidth at max spec'd voltage - so even if the part functioned it would have low bandwidth.

That being said we don't have any switches that meet both the bandwidth + supply voltage use case. Most of our higher bandwidth parts that are single supply. The other issue is that the only parts that we have available that work at this supply voltage is that their bandwidth's are much lower than 800MHz - these are parts like the CD74HC4316 , CD74HCT4316, and CD4066 variants. The first device listed, the CD74HC4316 has the highest bandwidth of 200MHz - but at +/-3.3V it might not even get that far.

At this time we don't really have a switch that can support this application.

If you have any other questions please let me know!

  • Hi Parker,

Thanks for your help. If my customer want to get 800Mhz bandwidth, what voltage should be? They can change the power rail to reach the bandwidth by TMUX6112.(dual power). It's a potential customer, ADI is promoting ADG1236.

  • Hi Colin,

First, the TMUX6112 would need +/-15V to reach its highest bandwidth which is similar to what the ADI part uses. That being said the ADG1236 is a 2 channel 2:1. And while the TMUX6112 could be made to work like a 2 channel 2:1 but it is a 4 channel 1:1. The issue by turning this part into a 2 channel 2:1 by shorting D1 to D2 and D3 to D4. This brings two issues: you could short S1 to S2 or S3 to S4 in this configuration and the bandwidth will suffer due to a larger output capacitance of the mux. We do have a 2 channel 2:1 the TMUX6136 but this part only can reach 670MHz typically at +/-15V supplies - but that part is the closest to ADI's part - however the ADI part can support a higher BW at +/-15V. But if the application can handle slightly lower bandwidth's I'd suggest the TMUX6136 over the TMUX6112 in this application.

Please let me know if you have any other questions and  I will see what I can do!
