SN74CB3T3245: Bus switch can be used between S6E2C series controller and MR2A16AVYS35

Part Number: SN74CB3T3245

We are planning to interface MRAM MR2A16AVYS35 with external bus interface of S6E2C series controller. Supply voltage of MRAM is 3.3V and S6E2C controller is 5V. The communication will be bidirectional.

For the above interface, bus switch SN74CB3T3245PWR is selected. Please let me know its logic compatibility for the bidirectional interface. Is it suitable for our application

  • Hi Rajapandi,

This device only down-translates - please see below for the functional diagram:

VG, when the device is enabled, will be equal to VCC + Vt. This means that this device can pass up to VCC without down-translation. However when the input voltage Vi meets the following condition the output will track to VCC: VCC + Vt < Vi <= 5.5V.

Essentially this is just an  Enhancement N-MOSFET Switch -which inherently down-translate due to architecture. To add the ability to up-translate external circuitry would need to be added. Something simple such as a pull-up resistor to 5V on the 5V side of the bus with a VCC = 3.3V can be used to help facilitate up translations.

If you have any other questions please let me know!

    Best,

    Parker Dodson
