TMUX136: TERMINATION!

Part Number: TMUX136
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83867CS,

I intend to use TMUX136 in my design with DP83867CS (on the SGMII interface).Request you to suggest whether capacitive coupling is needed on both the sides of mux or single side is sufficient (on destination)?

  • Hello Aashi,

I'm not certain as to why the title of the post is termination but if you have a question about termination please expand your question more on that so I can help. I'm going to answer about capacitive coupling, a capacitor in series on the trace between input/output, but if i've missed the mark, please let me know.

Capacitive coupling on one single side should be fine. when the switch is on, you can effectively think of it as a trace with some resistance and capacitance on the line. So only one would be needed, as you would expect if you were directly connected the input and output of your devices.

    Thanks,
    Rami
