CD74HCT4051: VOH, VOL and thermal resistance

Part Number: CD74HCT4051

Hi team,

My customer wants to know about the specification of CD74HCT4051M96 (SOIC) listed below but not described on the datasheet. Could you help me?

  • VOH (e.g. VCC-0.1 to VCC)
  • VOL (e.g. VEE to VEE+0.1)
  • Thermal resistance parameters for SOIC (M) package (Rtheta_JC, JA, JB)

Regards,
Kazuto

  • There are no VOH/VOL specifications because this device does not have any active outputs.

A closed switch behaves like a resistor, typically 40 Ω. The output voltage depends on the input voltage and the load current.

  • Hi Kazuto,

Since these are passive devices, there is no VOH/VOL specification for these devices. Signal switches/multiplexers like the CD74HCT4051 just pass the input signal to the output. The difference between the input and output voltage will be dependent on the current through the switch and how large the resistance is of the switch when it is closed. For this device, the resistance can fluctuate between 40 ohms and 270 ohms depending on the voltage node used and the temperature. Based on this, you can treat the closed switch as a resistor and calculate the voltage drop given your application specific input voltage and load current.

For thermal information on the 16D (SOIC) package, please see the below table (note this is from a different device, however, the package thermal information is often similar of devices with the same package):

    Thanks!

  • Hi Clemens, Bryan,

I understood. Thanks for your quick support!
