SN74CBT3251: alternative device

Part Number: SN74CBT3251
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74LV4051A, SN74CBT3253, SN74CBTLV3251, SN74CB3Q3251,

Hi team,

Due to shortage of SN74CBT3251RGYR, could you please help compare SN74CBT3251RGYR with SN74CBT3253, SN74LV4051A and SN74CBTLV3251?

Which one is more recommended for the replacement?

Thanks a lot!

Thanks & best regards,

Wendy

  • The SN74CBT3253 has a different function.

The SN74CBTLV3251 does not work above 3.3 V.

The SN74LV4051A has a different pinout.

  • Hi Wendy,

SN74CBT3253 has dual 4:1 muxs instead of one 8:1

SN74CBTLV3251 has a lower voltage operating range

SN74LV4051A has a different pin out

Can you provide more information on the application such as voltage range and other any other key parameters? Is an exact pin to pin replacement needed?

    Thanks,

    Tyler

  • Hi Tyler,

    Thank you for your help!

As the product is in MP level, my customer prefer the pin to pin compatible solution for SN74CBT3251RGYR.

    Thanks & best regards,

    Wendy

  • Hi Wendy,

SN74CB3Q3251 is another pin to pin compatible device offered in the RGY package.

Both the SN74CBT3251 and SN74CB3Q3251 have the same pinout but differ slightly in features and in architecture.

The CB3Q family is a charge pump based architecture that allows for a lower and flatter RON.

The CB3T device family supports voltage translation feature.

Below is a detailed application note that talks about the difference between these device architectures.

SN74CB3Q3251 can replace SN74CBT3251 as long as the differences in electrical specs are acceptable for the application (lower bandwidth, higher ron, etc..)

    Thanks,

    Tyler
