TS5A23159: To use analog switch instead of usb switch

Part Number: TS5A23159
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMUX136

Hello Expert,

Our customer has already been using TS5A23159, TS5A4624DCKR on their product.

So they want to use this part for USB 2.0 data instead of USB protocol-specific switches & muxes.

When I checked bandwidth, I think that there is no issue.

But I'm not sure whether there is problem or not.

So I need your confirm and explain about below block diagram.

I'm looking forward to receiving your feedback ASAP.

Best regards,

Michael

  • You can use any switch that supports the required bandwidth and voltage range.

These devices can support full speed (12 Mbps) but not high speed (480 Mbps).

  • Hi Michael,

As Clemens mentioned, both switches are rated for ~100MHz bandwidth which is likely too slow for high speed USB 2.0. Please confirm the bandwidth requirements with your customer.

If a higher bandwidth device is needed, the TMUX136 would be a good fit for this application. It is a 2 channel 2:1 switch with 6GHz bandwidth.

    Thanks,

    Tyler
