SN74CB3Q3306A: Is this the correct TI product finish? Or is it remade?

Part Number: SN74CB3Q3306A

Thank you for all your support.
Please advise me.

The tips of part leads usually show exposed copper in cross section.
However, the SN74CB3Q3306ADCU lead tip I got from the market shows almost no copper.
Is this the correct TI product finish? Or has it been reworked?

Model name: SN74CB3Q3306ADCU

I do not expect a warranty from TI.
The purpose was to know if what I purchased from the market is in correct or remade condition.
Can you make a decision based on the pictures?

  • Hi Katsumi,

As the marking is valid on all of these devices, the likely variance is due to the different manufacturing sites these can potentially come from. Since not all the machines used to trim and form these leads are exactly identical, there will be some small differences in the final product due to these external factors.

    Thanks!

  • HI Bryan

    Thank you for answering.

At first, I thought it was due to the difference in processing between factories.

But I can't see the traces of machine slicing. Looks like it is coated with solder.

    What do you look like?

Is this the correct quality level for the lead finish? Is it due to the difference in manufacturing factories?

  • Hi Katsumi,

Can you confirm that this happens on multiple units in each batch? The 1st and 3rd definitely exhibit slicing marks. The second is not as clean, but then again, the machinery may not be identical at all the assembly sites so the tools may not cut in the same fashion.

Still believe this is due to the discrepancies in the machining and believe the lead finish on the ends just may not look identical (does not mean they are reworked parts).

    Thanks!

  • HI Bryan

    Thanks for your thoughtful response.

I would like to ask you a few more questions.

No.2 and No.3 are product samples taken from the same tape reel.
Therefore, I believe they are from the same machine at the same site, using the same tooling.
However, looking at the photos of No.2 and No.3, it appears that the tooling is sharpened differently.

Is this a reason to suspect a remanufactured product?

  • Hi Katsumi,

I was able to have these images/lots further reviewed by our Quality team and confirmed batch No.1 was manufactured at a different time than batches 2 and 3 (hence why the first batch looks pretty different than 2 & 3). Essentially, the variations seen are within expectations of the trim and form process and there is no indication of increased risk with any of these samples you have shown here.

    Hope this helps!

  • HI Bryan

Thanks for the support of the quality team. It was very helpful.

Based on the information you provided, my company's authenticity determination process is going to have a good outcome.

By the way, another issue has arisen regarding the authenticity of TI products obtained at flea markets. Please let me discuss this in a new question.

Thank you in advance for your continued help.

  • Hi Katsumi,

Happy to help. Feel free to ask anything else and we will do our best to help.

    Thanks!
