TMUX4051: Should I use new 8:1 mux TMUX4051 instead of CD4051? What is the difference between the two devices?

Part Number: TMUX4051
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CD4051B,

E2E,

I was searching for an 8:1 mux and I see there is new product TMUX4051.  What is the difference between the TMUX4051 and the traditional CD4051B?

Thank you,

Adam

  • Hi Adam!

    This is a great question.

The TMUX4051 8:1 one-channel multiplexer is a p2p compatible upgrade to its predecessor CD4051B. TMUX4051 offers superior electrical performance compared to CD4051B.

TMUX4051 offers a wide single/dual supply range of 3V - 24V (+/-12V). Also, TMUX4051 offers 1.8V logic compatible inputs, which helps to support systems that utilize lower voltage rails.

One of the major break-throughs with the TMUX4051 is the package technology.

In addition to industry standard QFN (BQB) package, TMUX4051 offers the SOT-23-THIN (DYY)  package type which is 57% smaller than the 16-Pin TSSOP package!

This allows the SOT-23-THIN package footprint to fit within the TSSOP package footprint, making it easy for layout implementation.

    Regards,

    Tyler
