TMUX6219: ESD Configuration and VSS pin

Part Number: TMUX6219

pls find here questions. thanks.

1. Are D/S1/S2 pin coming with the internal ESD diode as below circuitry? or Does customer need to add them externally?

2. When unipolar bias power is used for TMUX6219, is VSS pin able to connect to grounding though a capacitor? please see below.

  • 1. Yes, the I/O pins have such diodes. External diodes are needed if you want stronger ESD protection.

    2. When you do not need negative voltages, then VSS must be connected directly to GND. A capacitor would make sense only for decoupling a negative supply rail.

  • Hi Brian,

    1) The TMUX6219 has integrated ESD diodes on both the VDD and VSS supply rails (similar to what you drew above). So no need to add externally.

    2) It is advised to connect the VSS pin directly to GND as you will be essentially floating this node with that capactior in series (will just be able to be used for decoupling high frequency noise).

Let me know if you have other questions on this!

    Thanks!

    Bryan
