TS3DS10224: IBIS using problem

Part Number: TS3DS10224

Hi

We downloaded the IBIS model of TS3DS10224 on TI’s website but can’t use it successfully.

When we loaded it in ADS, the IBIS didn’t appear output pin.

We checked the content of this IBIS, it said we needed to modify the content by ourselves. But after trying we still fail (Actually we are not familiar with this).

Could you help us check if we want to do simulations with the below path (If we want to operate TX in INB+/- & TX out in OUTA0+/-), What should we do?

In the other question, We detected a significant waveform distortion at INB+/- point and got a failed compliance test result. after removing the Mux, The test will pass.

I'd like to ask, For the Tx source, what input impedance magnitude will it see?

Thanks.

  • Hi WeiChen,

When placing the IBIS model in the ADS enviroment, please choose the "IBIS PIN" option. It looks like a different option may have been chosen.

When this model type is placed, double clicking it will allow you to select the desired pins you want to simulate:

Modification to the .ibs file only needs to occur if you want to change the switch connections. For example, the default is that pin 3(INB+) is connected to pin 18(OUTA0+). If you want to make pin 3 connected to pin 20, then you need comment out the first block of switch connections and uncomment out the second block of switch connections. Only 1 block can be active at a time.

    Thanks,
    Tyler

  • Hi Tyler:

After trying, when we opened the model, ADS popped out the window as below (we reloaded a non-revised IBIS)

And the IBIS just appeared one pin, we left-clicked on it, there are just left side model can be selected, as below

Could you help us check if we got the right model that same as yours? thanks

    ts3ds10224.ibs

  • Hi WeiChen,

I downloaded the model you linked and it operated as expected. In your picture, can you choose the "TS3DS10224_SX_3P3V" model instead of the TS3DS10224_SX_3P3V_S"? That is the only difference I can see right now.

    linked model in my simulator:

    Thanks,
    Tyler

  • Hi Tyler:

Our ADS still could use the model successfully. So I'm trying to run it on Clarity Topology Xplorer.

I'd like to ask does this model describe the transmit relation with the series pin part in IBIS content?

    such as below

TS3DS10224_SX_3P3V_S 1 describes input from IN pin side and output to OUT pin side

TS3DS10224_DX_3P3V_S 1 describes input from OUT side and output to IN pin side

and the other question is can this model react to the impedance mismatch of the channel at the Mux point (Ron=13ohm)?

    Thanks.

  • Hi WeiChen,

You are correct, TS3DS10224_SX_3P3V_S is IN to OUT and TS3DS10224_DX_3P3V_S is OUT to IN. For this device, the values should be the same since the channels are bidirectional.

The IBIS model is a list of I-V curves and it does not change based on different input impedance values. It mainly models the on resistance of the switch.

    Thanks,
    Tyler

  • Hi Tyler

OK, so the IBIS has included the effect of Ron right?

I don't need to add a resistor to my circuit to do the simulation?

  • Hi WeiChen,

You are correct, you do not need to add an external resistor. The ibis model includes the RON resistance inside the model.

    Thanks,
    Tyler
