TS3A5017: Output state when disabled

Part Number: TS3A5017

Hi,

What is the state of the outputs when ENx inputs are activate (H) ?

The specification just indicate OFF, is it open or 0V ?

Thanks,

  • "Off" means disconnected, i.e., high impedance.

  • Hello Thibault,

The TS3A5017 is an active low device (EN is marked with a line on top), which means whenever the enable pin is low a switch will be closed according to the address pins, and when it is high all switches are open.

As seen in the function table below:

When EN is L (low / off / 0) the addresses pins select which switches can be closed or open. So for the table above:

    1. EN is L, the addresses pins IN2 and IN1 are L, as a result the switch S1 is closed and connected to the drain pin D. Rest of the switches are open.

    2. EN is L, the address pin IN2 is L and IN1 is H, (high / on / 1) as a result the switch S2 is closed and connected to the drain pin D. Rest of the switches are open.

    3. EN is L, the address pin IN2 is H and IN1 is L,  as a result the switch S3 is closed and connected to the drain pin D. Rest of the switches are open.

    4. EN is L, the address pin IN2 is H and IN1 is H,  as a result the switch S4 is closed and connected to the drain pin D. Rest of the switches are open.

    5. EN is H, the address pins IN2 and IN1 are not active, as a result none of the switches are closed and connected to the drain pin D. They are all open.

Please let me know if you have any more questions or concerns!

    Thanks,

    Nir

  • Hi,

Thanks all for your replies, as discuted with my FAE, it is not clear on the datasheet :

  • That "Switch Output" waveform is pulled down by RL. (It would not be possible to measure a floating node.)

  • Hello,

The diagram shows that the S1 pin is being pulled to ground by RL since it is acting as a pulldown resistor.
