TMUX1574: TMUX1574 Internal Protection Diodes

Part Number: TMUX1574
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMUX7309F, TMUX7462F

Hello,

I need to implement protection on the TMUX1574 inputs against 60V, I am wondering if this CMOS chip has protection diodes to VCC and GND or not. If there are diodes, I can simply limit the current by a series resistors and make this safe.

In general, are there any rules that we can understand the existence of these diodes from datasheets?

  • Hi Mehran,

This device incorporates a powered off protection architecture, so it does not have the protection diodes between the inputs and VCC/GND. You will not be able to protect this device from a 60V overvoltage condition with just resistors in this case. For this type of protection, I advise looking at some of our fault protected switches such as the TMUX7309F or TMUX7462F which have 60V fault protection integrated into their design.

Let me know if you have further questions on this.

    Thanks!
